I have been dancing Bharatanatyam since 1993 as a member of the Shivashakti Kalananda Dance Theatre (Art Director: Ms. Panni Somi) in Budapest, Hungary. Since 2000 I have had regular performances with the dance theatre and participated in the organisation of various cultural programmes.
My dance teachers: Panni Somi, Shanty Rayapoullé, T. Saravanan, C. Mariappane, Shyamala Surendran
Beginning of the dance studies: 1993
First solo performance (Arangetram): 2001
Besides Bharatanatyam, I also studied Odissi (two courses with Vera-Viktoria Szirmay, Austria), Mohiniyattam (one course with Shyamala Surendran, India) and Kathak (one course with Rajendra Gangani and Swati Sinha, India).
I have had five study visits to Pondicherry, India: 2003-2004 and 2005: with Shanty Rayapoullé, 2006: with T. Saravanan and 2008: with C. Mariappane.
Besides dance, I studied Hungarian Linguistics and Literature at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest (MA 2003) and Indological Studies at ELTE (MA 2005).
For one year (2003-4) I was a visiting student of the ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) at Pondicherry University, where I studied ancient Indian drama. During this year I started studying the classical Tamil language: I participated in the Classical Tamil Winter (once Summer) School in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008.
In 2019 our family moved to Berlin. I would like to continue my dance and dance teaching profession here, as Bharatanatyam is an indelible part of my life.
